Bromantane
Research Overview

Bromantane (N-(4-bromophenyl)adamantan-2-amine), also written bromantan, is an adamantane derivative developed in Russia. It is described in the pharmacological literature as an actoprotector, a class of synthetic compounds studied for stability against physical load. Most of the published work comes from Russian laboratories and is preclinical, and a large part of it appears in Russian-language journals. Studies have examined catecholamine biosynthesis and hippocampal synaptic plasticity in rats, gene expression in rat brain regions, inflammatory cytokines in a mouse model, and reproductive and developmental endpoints in rats.
