BPC-157 Arginate
Research Overview

BPC-157 Arginate is a salt form of BPC-157, the synthetic pentadecapeptide Gly-Glu-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Lys-Pro-Ala-Asp-Asp-Ala-Gly-Leu-Val (GEPPPGKPADDAGLV). The peptide sequence is the same; the difference is the counter-ion, which is L-arginine rather than the acetate commonly supplied with synthetic peptides. BPC-157 corresponds to a partial sequence of body protection compound, a protein described in human gastric juice, and is also referred to in the literature as PL 14736. Most published BPC 157 research describes the peptide without specifying a salt form, or used it as the acetate. Independent literature specific to the arginate salt is limited: we did not identify peer-reviewed studies of BPC-157 arginate itself, so the work summarised below concerns the BPC 157 peptide and should not be read as describing the arginate salt specifically. That work comes mainly from rodent models and cell culture, with a 2025 systematic review identifying 36 eligible musculoskeletal studies, 35 of them preclinical.
